Word Guessing Game
This game requires a set of note cards, some tape, and a class. The objective is to collect as many cards as possible in a given period of time. The cards have a single word written on them – the objective is to guess the word – except the word is taped to the back of the participant and they cannot see it. To guess the word the participants must circulate among the room asking questions of the other participants to guess the word written on the card. Also they have to rotate to the entire class before starting over again. For variety you can have words worth different point values as beginner’s words (1 point) and advanced words (2-3 points)

Note to instructors:
The materials required for this exercise are tape and sticky notes. I typically just use these and write the words as I give them to the students (tack them on the backs). At the end I have the students tally up their points and then award the winner.
This exercise lends itself very well to any class where the students need to learn vocabulary for the class. For example a class on physical geography could use words like peninsula, atoll, etc ….
